查爾斯·約翰遜·梅納德

查爾斯·強森·梅納德（Charles Johnson Maynard，1845年5月6日－1929年10月15日）是一位美國自然學家和鳥類學家，出生於麻薩諸塞州牛頓市。他是一位收藏家、動物標本剝製師，也是鳥類發聲器官方面的專家。除了鳥類，他也研究軟體動物、苔蘚、墓碑和昆蟲。他曾居住在麻薩諸塞州牛頓市工藝街459號的住宅，該建築建於1897年，並於1996年以「查爾斯·梅納德故居」之名列入國家史蹟名錄。查爾斯·強森·梅納德獎由牛頓保育協會頒發。

查爾斯·強森·梅納德於1845年5月6日出生於麻薩諸塞州牛頓市，父母為薩繆爾·梅納德（Samuel Maynard）和艾米琳·桑格（Emeline Sanger）。他16歲時輟學，到家中農場幫忙。興趣引導他走向動物標本剝製術，以及自然史標本的收藏與交易。1865年，他在麻薩諸塞州波士頓創立了自己的公司，名為「C. J. Maynard & Co.」，專門出版書籍並銷售自然學家的用品。梅納德後來與寶琳·瑟洛·格林伍德（Pauline Thurlow Greenwood）結婚。

個人生活

查爾斯·強森·梅納德結過兩次婚。

1870年，他與寶琳·瑟洛·格林伍德結婚。她是麻薩諸塞州伊普斯威奇燈塔看守人兼格林伍德農場主人托馬斯·史密斯·格林伍德（Thomas Smith Greenwood）的女兒。她的父親也曾獲得麻薩諸塞州人道協會的獎項。查爾斯和寶琳育有兩個孩子，其中包括莫德·寶琳（Maude Pauline，1872-1965），她與喬治·威廉·菲普斯（George William Phypers）共同擁有俄亥俄州的格林伍德農場。他的第二次婚姻是與伊麗莎白·科特（Elizabeth Cotter）結婚。他們育有一女，名為珀爾（Pearl），在她父親去世後，繼續居住在查爾斯·梅納德故居。
