伊恩·吉蘭樂團

Ian Gillan Band 是一支英國的漸進式爵士搖滾樂團，由 Deep Purple 主唱 Ian Gillan 於 1975 年組建。他們的音樂風格有別於 Deep Purple 的重金屬，呈現出一種漸進式爵士融合的聲音，更接近 Brand X 等樂團。

歷史

1973 年 6 月離開 Deep Purple 後，Ian Gillan 曾一度退出音樂界，轉而從事其他商業投資，包括摩托車引擎、一間鄉村飯店／餐廳（附有吉他形狀的游泳池），以及擁有 Kingsway Recorders 錄音室。他從 1974 年 4 月起，便在該錄音室開始製作他離開 Deep Purple 後的首批個人作品。 除了錄音室之外，這些投資全都以失敗告終。這個事實，加上 1975 年 10 月 16 日，他在倫敦皇家亞伯特音樂廳，於 Roger Glover 的 Butterfly Ball 現場演出中作為嘉賓登場並獲得熱烈迴響（他代替被 Ritchie Blackmore 禁止參與的 Ronnie James Dio 演唱了〈Sitting in a Dream〉），促使他決定重返歌唱事業並組建一支新樂團。

樂團最初名為 Shand Grenade，是 Shangri-la 和 Grenade 的組合詞，但在經紀公司的說服下，Gillan 同意將樂團更名為 Ian Gillan Band。他招募了吉他手 Ray Fenwick、貝斯手 John Gustafson、鍵盤手 Mike Moran，以及 Elf 的鼓手 Mark Nauseef。在 Roger Glover 擔任製作人與錄音室樂手的情況下，這個陣容於 1975 年 12 月至 1976 年 1 月間錄製了他們的首張專輯《Child In Time》。1976 年 2 月，Moran 被 Mickey Lee Soule（前 Elf 和 Rainbow 成員）取代，但在錄製後續專輯《Clear Air Turbulence》時，Soule 於 1976 年 5 月被 Colin Towns 取代。

樂團在日本取得了一些成功，但在北美市場完全沒有斬獲，在歐洲也僅有邪典地位，其爵士融合的走向對流行和搖滾樂迷皆缺乏吸引力。他們的首張專輯《Child In Time》在英國排行榜上排名第 55，在瑞典則排名第 36。他們的第三張專輯《Scarabus》（1977 年）更具搖滾色彩，但仍保留了爵士融合的方向。專輯發行時正值龐克搖滾的巔峰時期，除了日本以外並未取得成功，其唱片公司 Island Records 也與他們解約。

隔年，Gillan 解散了樂團，但保留了 Colin Towns，並組建了一支簡稱為 Gillan 的新樂團。解散後，一張現場專輯被發行。John Gustafson 曾說：「Gillan 決定他不喜歡樂團的方向，想做更多搖滾的東西。事實上，他早該堅持己見。我個人是期待能做些 Deep Purple 風格的東西，但他卻讓我們做任何我們想做的事。」
