Spirits Burning 是一個音樂集體，其成員主要為與太空搖滾和前衛搖滾相關的音樂家，包括來自 Blue Öyster Cult、Clearlight、Gong 和 Hawkwind 等樂團的成員。Spirits Burning 由美國作曲家兼製作人 Don Falcone 主導。

歷史

1996年，Falcone 重新啟動了 Spirits Burning。Spirits Burning 是他在舊金山最早的樂團之一，Falcone 在團中擔任貝斯手和鍵盤手。他們首次為 CD 錄製的歌曲是翻唱 King Crimson 的《Red》，收錄於1997年發行的致敬專輯《Schizoid Dimension》。1998年，Spirits Burning 與法國廠牌 Musea Records 簽約，並透過 Musea 旗下的 Gazul Records 發行了他們的首張專輯《New Worlds By Design》。

就在網路開始開啟合作可能性的新篇章時，Falcone 為 Spirits Burning 設定了持續的使命。這些可能性是過去的錄音室作業和後勤所不允許的：讓內容創作者有機會透過網路以臨時合作的方式招募音樂人；這些音樂人是他們幾乎沒有希望能面對面一起演奏的。

在太空搖滾社群中，Falcone 的這種方法取得了特別好的成果。回顧他以 Spirits Burning 名義活動的頭十年，會發現一些令人驚訝的貢獻者（包括 Daevid Allen、Porcupine Tree 的 Steven Wilson，以及 High Tide 的 Simon House）。

2017年，Spirits Burning 在英國進行了兩次現場演出。當時的陣容為 Steve Bemand、Richard Chadwick、Kev Ellis、Don Falcone、Colin Kafka、Martin Plumley 和 Bridget Wishart。

著名合作

Falcone、Albert Bouchard（前 Blue Öyster Cult 成員）以及作家 Michael Moorcock 曾在 Spirits Burning 中合作（以 Spirits Burning & Michael Moorcock 的名義），改編 Moorcock 的兩本小說：《An Alien Heat》與《The Hollow Lands》。Moorcock 也在2021年 Spirits Burning 的專輯《Evolution Ritual》中的三首歌曲裡吹奏口琴，並出現在2008年發行的 Spirits Burning CD《Alien Injection》的五首歌曲中。他在歌曲中擔任主唱、吉他與曼陀林演奏。《Alien Injection》CD 中使用的表演片段來自於《The Entropy Tango & Gloriana Demo Sessions》。

Falcone 與 Bridget Wishart（前 Hawkwind 成員）曾在 Spirits Burning 中合作（包括以 Spirits Burning & Bridget Wishart 的名義發行的作品）。

Falcone 與 Clearlight 的 Cyrille Verdeaux 曾在 Spirits Burning 中合作（包括以 Spirits Burning & Clearlight 的名義發行的作品）。

Falcone 與 Daevid Allen（Gong 成員）曾在 Spirits Burning 中合作（包括以 Spirits Burning & Daevid Allen 的名義發行的單曲）。

Robert Calvert 的《Centigrade 232》錄音帶朗誦，首次與音樂結合是用在 Spirits Burning 於2001年發行的第二張專輯《Reflections In A Radio Shower》中。Don Falcone 將 Calvert 朗讀其詩作《Centigrade 232》的原始錄音，融入到歌曲《Drive-By Poetry》中。《Centigrade 232》的另一首詩作（〈Ode To A Crystal Set〉）的詩句，則出現在該 CD 的開場曲《Second Degree Soul Sparks》中。
