亞伯拉罕·弗萊明

亞伯拉罕·弗萊明（Abraham Fleming，又作 Flemyng，約1552年－1607年9月18日）是一位英國教士。他是一位多產的作家與譯者，亦為他人著作撰文。他同時也是一名編者與詩人，並擔任《霍林斯赫德編年史》（1587年）第二版的主要編者。弗萊明也是一位手稿收藏家。至1730年代，弗萊明的藏品由弗朗西斯·佩克所有，其後的下落則不明。

生平

弗萊明極可能於1548至1552年間出生於倫敦霍本，1570年11月以減費生（sizar，一名靠為學校服務來抵免學費的貧困學生）身分註冊入學劍橋大學彼得學院，並於1582年取得文學士學位。弗萊明很可能將在劍橋的學業與在倫敦的長期停留交替進行，以便撰寫和翻譯各種主題的通俗文本，其中一些至今仍在印刷。他的職業生涯開端非凡，於1575年成為首位將維吉爾作品（《牧歌》）全文譯成英文的人。同年，他接著完成了《牧歌》的另一個全譯本，這次是詩歌體。在其職業生涯後期，弗萊明受其他作家之邀為其書籍撰寫推薦文，並與喬治·惠茨頓、巴納比·古奇和雷金納德·斯科特等著名作家合作；伊莉莎白時代倫敦的許多主要印刷商都曾邀請弗萊明編輯或潤飾待印文本，他也藉此建立了一個人脈網絡。他最為人所知的，是其在《霍林斯赫德編年史》（1587年）第二版中擔任主要編者及主要貢獻者的角色，此一角色曾一度存有爭議，但現已獲公認。
